Fire up your engines, because a wild safari adventure awaits. After months of closure, the Toronto Zoo is finally planning on opening its doors, although your visit is going to be a little different. Instead of wandering through the attraction, you will be enjoying the adorable sights from your car. Mark your calendars, because the Toronto Zoo's drive-thru experience is officially launching this weekend.
Last week, the zoo released its reopening plan, which involves visitors remaining in their vehicles while touring the attraction.
Today, it announced that the drive-thru experience will officially launch on Saturday, May 23, which is only days away.
Tickets will go on sale Friday, May 22, at 11 a.m., and must be purchased online in advance.
“We are so excited to introduce this new experience to our guests," Dolf DeJong, Chief Executive Officer, said in a press release to Narcity.
"We have truly missed welcoming people to our Toronto Zoo and this is a new and innovative way for our guests to enjoy the Zoo in the safety of their own vehicles."
The new Scenic Safari Drive-Thru Experience allows visitors to experience the attraction from a new perspective while social distancing.
The 3.4-kilometre route uses walkways and staff-only roads to take you on a drive-thru tour.
The entire journey will take about 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete.
You'll adventure through a lion cave in the African Savanna, and explore areas such as Indo-Malaya.
You can tune in to a guided audio tour of the safari available through the zoo's podcast.
Admission for cars with two people or less will cost $44, and cars with three or more occupants will cost $59. Members will be offered a lower rate.
The zoo requires that guests only travel with household members.
Get ready for a wild safari adventure with this new Toronto Zoo experience, opening up later this week.
