Toronto Zoo's Drive-Thru Experience Officially Opens Saturday & Here's A First Look

Put on your sunhats and favourite safari shirt, because the Toronto Zoo's latest experience will take you on an exotic animal adventure. Launching May 23, the Scenic Safari allows you to drive your car along select pathways so you can visit your favourite creatures of the wild. Here's a first look at what you can expect to see at the Toronto Zoo's Drive-Thru experience.

Earlier this week, the Zoo announced it would be reopening for motorized visits after more than two months shut.

The Scenic Safari is a brand new way to experience the popular attraction while staying safely distanced in your car.

The 3.4-kilometre route takes you past rhinos, zebras, red pandas, cheetahs, and more. You even get to drive through the lion cave.

You can download an audio tour from the Zoo's podcast to listen to on your adventure. The recording explains a bit about the animals and areas you're driving through.

There's a great perk, too.

You also get to see an area you wouldn't normally be able to enter during a regular visit.

The spot, which is typically exclusive to Zoomobile riders, is home to old-world monkeys, wild horses, Africa's tallest flying bird, and more.

While many animals, such as the zebras and flamingos, are easy to spot, you may need some luck to see others. They're not always in plain view, and due to the restrictions of your car, you may not be at the right angle to see them.

Even if you don't catch a glimpse of all the Zoo's residents, have no fear, you'll still get your fill of cuteness as you travel between enclosures.

As much of the Safari route is in direct sunlight on bright days, it's a good idea to pack some water for your adventure to keep cool.

If you're already dreaming about this safari adventure, you may want to purchase your ticket ASAP.

The tickets officially went on sale today, and it seems everyone is desperate to go. The website received so much traffic that the portal crashed at one point.

Admission for cars with two people or less costs $44, and cars with three or more occupants cost $59. Prices are lower for Zoo members.
