Every year the infamous Distillery District hosts this city's biggest light festival and they've announced it's officially coming back this winter! Sure, the Toronto Christmas Market brings huge crowds, but the TO Light Fest is like no other event this area hosts throughout the year.

The purpose of the TO Light Fest is to take visitors on a visual journey and imaginative adventure through light art pieces set up throughout the Distillery District. Since the wintertime is usually cold, dark, and miserable for us Canadians, the TO Light Fest is here to bring some colour and brightness into our lives!

The event boasts thousands of lights spread across 44 buildings in the Distillery District for a full 45 days. Oh, and the best part about this event? It's completely free! There's no cost at all to enter the TO Light Fest during the entire 45 days it will be running, which is seriously amazing.

This year you can attend the light festival from January 18th until March 3rd of 2019. Last year's art installations were incredible, and while they won't be the same again this year, you can expect some seriously creative and beautiful displays of light and art to take over the Distillery District this winter.

But walking around and admiring the art isn't the only thing you can enjoy while you're here. They also include tons of interactive installations as well. Last year they had an installation made up of light-up birds arranged in a circle that played music as you ran around inside their circle. They also had a piano inside a glass box that lit up a serious of lights hanging inside one of the alleyways in the sequence of the music!

There will also be tons of shops and restaurants open late for the event so you can enjoy some shopping and good eats while you're there. It's the perfect event to make a dreary winter night that much better!
