Toronto's Massive New Market Made Entirely Out Of Shipping Containers Is Already Standing (PHOTOS)

Construction is well underway for Toronto's coolest new marketplace called the Stackt Container Market, the city's newest shopping and dining destination made entirely out of shipping containers. The two-level market occupies a massive area on King Street West, and will be home to tons of pop-up shops, restaurants and artist spaces.
Stackt's grand opening is currently set for spring 2019, but crews have started building the place so quickly that part of it is already standing. Photos show a partial view of the containers taking shape, bringing the renderings to life.

According to Stackt's website, the market will also be used as a venue for shows and events. Their goal for the space is to make it an "experience of curated discovery."
Urban Toronto reports that the shipping containers were delivered to the lot only a month ago. In just a few weeks, crews have already assembled a majority of the ground level of the market's north end.
Stackt Market collaborated with Giant Containers to design, build and install the containers on site at 28 Bathurst Street, pushing the limits of what can be achieved with a great idea and simple shipping containers.

Once the building itself is fully complete, the surrounding area will be landscaped for a "terraced piazza and a lawn." According to Urban Toronto, Stackt will be open to the public for two and a half years before the city redevelops the space into a public park.
