Toronto Landmarks Used Their Lights To Send Love To Nova Scotia Last Night (PHOTOS)

Across the country, Canadians are mourning the victims of the tragic Nova Scotia shooting that occurred over the weekend. Named the deadliest mass shooting in Canadian history, the horrific incident has so far claimed the lives of 19 people. Last night, Toronto used its landmarks to send love to those affected by this devastating event. Toronto's Nova Scotia tribute honoured the lives of those lost in the shooting.

On April 18, the small town of Portapique, Nova Scotia, became the scene of a horrific attack as a gunman went on a 12-hour rampage.

Nineteen lives have been claimed so far, including that of the shooter. A police officer, school teacher, and Ontario couple were among the victims.

Last night, the city of Toronto used major landmarks to show respect for Nova Scotia during this heart-breaking time.

The CN Tower lit up in shades of red, gold, and blue to honour the RCMP Officer who lost her life over the weekend.

The Tower also displayed blue and white colours to pay tribute to Nova Scotia. 

"Tonight, the CN Tower will be lit in blue and white, in memory of those who lost their lives in Nova Scotia," the Tower announced in a tweet.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, loved ones and all the people of Nova Scotia at this time."

The CN Tower also went dark between light shows on April 19 as a tribute to the province of Nova Scotia.

The Toronto sign in Nathan Phillips Square dimmed its lights in memory of the innocent victims and those affected by this loss.

"Toronto Sign has been dimmed and flags at City Hall, Metro Hall and civic centres have been lowered in remembrance of the innocent lives lost in #Portapique," Mayor John Tory said in a tweet.

"Sending the love and support of our entire city to Nova Scotia in the wake of this terrible tragedy."

This isn't the first time that Toronto has used its landmarks to spread love and support across the city. 

Earlier this month, the CN tower lit up purple to show its support to hospitality workers during the trying times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
