Toronto's Winter Brunch Challenge Will Give You 50% Off Your Meal If You Eat It Outside In The Cold

Brunch is one of life's small pleasures, and we're prepared to roll out of bed early, travel long distances, and sometimes give up a large chunk of our paycheque to enjoy this glorious meal. You can prove your love for brunch, as well as your inner Canadian, with this new challenge happening in the city this month. Bundle up and get ready to brave the cold at Toronto's Winter Brunch Challenge.

Summer is usually the time to enjoy your early morning meal on the patio, but now you can indulge in your winter brunch outside too.

In celebration of the Toronto Light Festival, The Distillery District's El Catrin is hosting a Winter Brunch Challenge, where you'll receive 50% off your meal if you can finish the entire thing outside.

The challenge is available until March 1, 2020, and is served on Saturdays and Sundays only.

Twenty-five massive heaters and a huge firepit are set up on the patio to ensure you don't turn into an ice sculpture as you take on the challenge. There will also be lots of serapes to keep you cozy.

The four-course brunch menu consists of delicious Mexican fare and is set at $36. That means if you can finish it outside, you'll only be paying $18.

The first course consists of a tortilla soup, complete with avocado, fried tortilla strips, crema, cotija cheese, tomato and chilli broth, and lime.

For the second course, you can choose between Mexican bread pudding with tequila blueberry compote, or huevos canasta, which includes eggs, salsa, and bacon.

You'll have the option of veggie-stuffed crepes or chicken stew for the next part of the meal.

If you have any room left, you'll be served drool-worthy warm cinnamon-spiced churros.

Whether you succeed in the challenge or not, Mealshare and the Distillery Restaurants Corp. will donate a meal to a youth in need.

Put on your warmest parka, thickest gloves, and woolliest hat, and see if you can reach a new level of Canadian by finishing your brunch on a frozen patio.

You can also head over to Pure Spirits to try some insane meal-topped caesars, which are also here for a limited time during the Light Festival.
