Today's the day! St. Partick's Day is today and as you start to pick out your best green outfit and decided where you want to go to celebrate the Irish holiday, how you get there can actually be free. So if you're heading across town to your favorite pub or just down the street, TTC is offering free rides on some of their lines throughout the evening of St. Patrick's Day.

That's right, today, on March 17, the TTC is offering free rides to all of their customers who are using the 501 Queen and 504 King streetcars. The offer is valid from 4:00 P.M. on March 17 until 2:30 A.M on March 18th, which is just in time for you to get to and from your St. Partick's Day event.

Both the A and B branches of these streetcars will be free throughout the duration of the night, which means you can head in either direction to ensure you get home safely after a night of partying.

If you are a PRESTO user, like most of Torontonians by now, you don't even need to tap your PRESTO card when you are boarding the Queen of King Street car during these hours.

However, all other lines of the TTC will be charging for the night. So if you are planning on taking the subway or the bus, normal fees will still apply.

This also means that while taking the Queen and King streetcar may be free, if you are transferring to another line throughout the city you will have to pay the normal fare.

This isn't the first time that the TTC has launched free programs to ensure that Torontonians get home safe. The TTC is known for offering free rides throughout New Year's Eve to ensure that those who are intoxicated have a safe way home that does not involve getting behind the wheel.

If you go out this St. Patrick's Day always remember to never get behind a wheel of a vehicle after you have been drinking. Make sure to order a Uber, Taxi, use the TTC or make arrangments to stay over at a friends house.
