The Torrance Barrens Dark Sky Preserve is located within the Muskoka Region, in Gravenhurst,Ontario. At at this cottage-country like preserve, the northern lights (aurora borealis) occasionally appear in the sky and it's absolutely a magical experience.

The colourful wisps in the sky and abundance of stars are clearly visible to the naked eye at the Torrance Barrens Dark Sky Preserve. With the use of a telescope you could also see the cloud banks of Jupiter and the rings of Saturn.

The question is, how is this even possible to see in Ontario? The darkness at this preserve and lack of air pollution are definitely two huge contributing factors. You could also see other spiral galaxies with the naked eye, such as The Milky Way and The Andromeda Galaxy, that is located approximately 2.5 million light years from Earth.

Witness the ethereal lights in greens, blues, and reds shimmer across the sky. As the Northern Lights appear once in a while, it's important to plan your visit ahead of time. You can keep up with space news by checking out the space weather website, which will provide you with all the necessary astronomical details for you trip.
