Winterlude is a winter celebration held in Ottawa-Gatineau every February. The city is transformed a marvellous winter playground, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. You can skate on the world's largest skating rink (Rideau Canal), cheer for your favourite in the ice carving competitions, take a tour of the amazing snow and ice sculptures stationed throughout Confederation Park, and slide down a giant ice slide built in a section of the city called Snowflake Kingdom.

If there's anytime cold weather and snowfall are actually favourable, it's during Winterlude! The ice structures for the event require at least -10 degrees C for proper freezing, so you'll definitely need to bundle up; but it will definitely be worth your while.

Winterlude will run next year, from February 3 to 20. For more information, visit their website here.
