For many Torontonians, Canada’s Wonderland remains as the go-to theme park during the summer season. However, there exists another theme park just 2 hours away from Toronto that features some pretty spectacular rides as well.

Darien Lake Amusement Park is New York state’s premier destination for thrill rides. The 1,000-acre park features over 45 rides, a 10-acre water park, live shows, arcade games, campsites, and classic ground attractions like mini golf and go-karting.

But perhaps the one thing you must visit Darien Lake for is its incredible Superman-themed roller coaster, the Ride of Steel. This “hyper coaster” reaches heights above 200 feet and speeds over 75 miles per hour, making it the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the state. One of the craziest features of the coaster is the 70-degree drop that simulates the sensation of flying! The coaster has a total of five airtime hills (one of them is twisted) and two 540-degree helices.
