During the winter months, so many of us spend our time daydreaming of what sorts of fun we'll get up to when summer comes around. Now that summer is right around the corner and the snow is almost gone (fingers crossed, knock on wood), it's time to bring those plans to action and make all your summer adventure dreams come true!

Hopefully, you won't have to spend your time inside all summer, wishing you were out there crossing things off your bucket list! Close your eyes, imagine it's already summer, and pretend we can all actually go outside and have a blast with all these amazing activities:

Discovery Canyon Park

Day at the waterpark, anyone? If you want to spend the whole day in your swimsuit, Discovery Canyon is 100% the place to be. You can bring your own floaties to head down the river, or they offer rentals to save you the hassle (there's more room to pack snacks that way anyways).

Good Knights Medieval Encampment

If you're a huge fan of Game of Thrones, and if you want to live like you're actually on the show for a day, this hidden gem in our province is the perfect place to go. It takes camping to a whole new level — you'll feel totally secure, as if you're in the comforts of your own (very medieval) home.

Hoodoos Trail

When the sun is out and the weather is warm, make the drive to Drumheller and scope out Hoodoos Trail — it honestly will make you feel like you've been transported to somewhere far away from Alberta. Plus, you can get some awesome photo ops.

The Saskatoon Farm

You don't have to go to Saskatchewan to visit Saskatoon. Saskatoon Farm is located right in the city of Calgary, and it's the perfect place to do some flower shopping on a sunny summer day. The staff are super knowledgable and friendly, so you'll feel totally welcome the second you walk in the door.

Hinton's Beaver Boardwalk

Sometimes, all you need is a nice long walk to clear your head. What better place to take a nice stroll than Hinton's Beaver Boardwalk? It's actually the world's longest freshwater boardwalk, so if you can conquer the whole thing in one go, all the power to you.

Cobb's Adventure Park

How many times in your life are you going to be able to say you got the chance to cuddle with a kangaroo, especially in Canada? If you head to Cobb's Adventure Park, the opportunity awaits you. Not only do they have the cutest 'roos, they're also working on building an Insta-worthy sunflower maze that needs to be on your bucket list.

Athabasca Falls

After a long day of hiking, there's nothing more rewarding than an amazing view — especially if that view comes with a waterfall. Athabasca Falls is located in Jasper National Park, so next time you pay it a visit, be sure to lace up your hiking shoes and take on the journey.

The Jasper Planetarium

Summer nights are easily one of the best times to go stargazing, but instead of just laying out a blanket in your backyard, why not go all out with a trip to the Jasper Planetarium? You'll learn more about the galaxy than you ever thought possible, and it's definitely a view you'll never forget.

iFLY Calgary

Most people aren't keen to jump out of an airplane, but if skydiving is something you've ever had the urge to try, you can test it out at iFLY Calgary first. The skydiving simulation feels totally real, and it'll for sure get your adrenaline pumping like nothing else.

The Caves of Canmore

You've probably heard about the wonderful caves of Canmore, but did you know that you can actually book a guided tour through them? Canmore Cave Tours organizes all kinds of events in the caves, so you can book a trip and see what it's really like to live like Indiana Jones for a day.

Highline Trail

Here's another one for all you hiking fanatics. Highline Trail is easily one of the most scenic paths you'll find here in Alberta, making the hard work to get there totally worth it. It's located in Canmore, and the trail is said to be quite difficult, so beginners beware.

Castle Provincial Park

Who doesn't want to experience a secret turquoise swimming hole in the summertime? Castle Falls Provincial Park is home to this stunning waterfall swimming hole that is perfect for a refreshing dip — and the views aren't half bad either.

We strongly advise that before you go swimming or visit any location, you check the most recent updates on potential hazards, security, water quality, and closures. If you do plan to visit a location, respect the environment.
