If spring is all about daffodils and tulips, then summer is definitely all about lavender. Imagine the fragrance that comes wafting off of these gorgeous blooms on a warm breeze. If you only visit one of BC's many islands this summer, then make it Salt Spring Island so you can check out this incredible lavender farm.

What goes on at Sacred Mountain Lavender? They're a small farm with 60 varieties of lavender and they grow gorgeous purple stuff on over two acres of land. Everything here is kept small and made in-house. The plants are propagated at the farm, grown, harvested, dried and processed all at Sacred Mountain.

Then, they finally distil the processed lavender into essential oils that they use to create spa products and lavender treats! You can get soaps, massage oils, teas, chocolates and more all made with their farm-grown lavender. You can feel good about buying local here and it's amazing to see exactly where your stuff comes from!

Sacred Mountain Lavender Farm is located at 401 Musgrave Road on Salt Spring Island. It's about a 2.5-hour drive from Vancouver and you have to take a ferry from Tsawwassen to get there. Lavender typically blooms in the summer so plan to visit in July or August for the optimal lavender experience. Check out their website for more info and for updates as they come out.
