One of the best things about BC is that you don't have to go far to find yourself surrounded by the natural world. The best BC waterfalls are hidden in Wells Gray Provincial Park just a road trip away from Vancouver. This is the home of Helmecken Falls which is almost three times the height of Niagara Falls in Ontario.
There are more waterfalls here than you can count and dozens of different trails to see them ranging from beginner-friendly to seriously advanced. This is one of the most comfortable and awe-inspiring parks you could see this summer! If you only make it out to one park this summer, make it Wells Gray Provincial Park.
This park is actually newsworthy because they discovered the most insane cave hidden in the park last year! The cave is one of the largest in Canada and it's pretty amazing that it went unnoticed for so long. Until BC Parks and local First Nations are able to assess the cave, it's closed to the public and you definitely should not go looking for it!
If you were planning a road trip to Alberta this summer, then you should definitely make a stop at this park. Wells Gray is actually close to Jasper, just a 3.5-hour drive away. That means that you could see BC's most spectacular waterfalls and Alberta's most amazing turquoise lakes in one road trip!
Wells Gray Provincial Park is about a five-hour drive from Vancouver. There are plenty of campsites in the park and it's right next to the town of Clearwater where there are plenty of accommodations.
