BC's Most Hidden Hot Springs Are Pure Freaking Paradise
Mother nature's hot tubs.
It always feels amazing when you discover a hidden gem you never knew about. Even if you've lived in the same province all your life, there are always new spots to enjoy. For example, this hiking trail to hot springs in B.C. will lead you past waterfalls and straight to paradise.
Tucked away in Central Kootenay, between Nakusp and Revelstoke, you'll find Halfway Hot Springs. The, which is essentially mother nature's hot tubs, is where you'll want to spend your weekends.
While our province has, why this spot is exceptional is the fact there are four different natural baths.
So you can spend your afternoon alternating between all the shallow, second, river and main pool. Each offers a slightly different experience, and of course, different views to enjoy.
Just picture it, next weekend you could soak away your troubles in hot water surrounded by forest.
Or you can head to the river pool, and enjoy the soothing sound of the rushing water. Doesn't it sound incredible?
There is even a handy changing shelter right next to the main hot springs so that you can get out of your wet clothes afterwards.
The quick one-kilometre hike to get here is a relatively well-kept secret. But it is super easy to do and will take you just a few minutes.
Some spots are steep, so you won't want to walk it in flip flops, but there are steps to help you make it down the slope safely.
If you are willing to explore a bit further, you'll also discover the breathtaking Ione Falls.
While it is possible to visit year-round, it is best to go when the warm weather arrives. In the winter, you would need to walk much further (up to 11 kilometres) as snow often blocks the roads.
For the ultimate, it is also possible to camp here too. It is isn't possible to reserve a spot, and they are all on a first-come, first-serve basis.
If you do want to spend the night, it is a good idea to arrive early in the day to claim one of the 20 spots.
There is a small camping fee, but when split between a few friends, it is just a few dollars each. The total price is $15 per site, which can fit up to six people.
