Summer is almost here! That means we'll be lounging on sandy beaches, drinking sangria on patios and spending hours outdoors soaking up the sunshine. One of the best things to do in the summertime is to explore in nature and lucky for us, Ontario is teeming with it.
Ontario has so much more to offer than just the bustling cityscape of Toronto, it also has hidden beaches, boardwalk trails through lush forests, and sparkling turquoise lakes just waiting to be discovered. One of these turquoise lakes that should be at the top of your list is Topaz Lake near Killarney, Ontario!
Topaz Lake is located inside Killarney Provincial Park which is just over a 4-hour drive from Toronto, a 6-hour drive from Ottawa, and 5.5 hours from London. Topaz Lake is a hidden gem in this stunning provincial park which you can only reach after an 11 km hike.
If you're not up for the trek out there you can also pay for a boat cruise to take you there. Any way you choose to get to this stunning sapphire lake will be totally worth it for the amazing views!
Killarney Provincial Park is full of hidden gems like hiking the Crack Trail which takes you up to a summit in the sky which offers views of the lush forests and glacial lakes below. There's also the smooth waters of George Lake which is a popular spot for stand-up paddleboarding because of how calm and serene it is.
To get to Topaz Lake you'll have to hike along a portion of the 78 km La Cloche Silhouette Trail. If you hike through the first 11 km of the trail you'll get to the Baie Fine section. At this hidden lake, you can dive from the tall, rocky cliffs, take a dip in the refreshing turquoise waters and enjoy a picnic with a stunning panoramic view from above!
