Even if you don't have plans to leave for a tropical beach this summer, you can still relax at Ontario's white sand beach! Nickel Beach, in Port Colborne, is a hidden gem and perfect for a last-minute summer road trip with your friends. The beautiful 2 km white sand beach will make you feel like you're in Florida!
Nickel Beach is located in the Niagara region and is a 2-hour drive from Toronto. It is a fantastic beach to visit as it has fewer crowds compared to nearby beaches like the popular Crystal Beach.
Located on the water of Lake Erie, Nickel Beach has a long stretch of fine white sand and clear water! It is a favourite spot for watersports, including kite surfing or windsurfing! If you are interested in surfing at this beach, there is even a website where you can check the current surf height, tide, wind and swell direction!
Along the beach, there is plenty of things to do to keep you entertained. In addition to swimming, surfing and sunbathing, you can have a picnic, play volleyball, or explore the sand dunes. Plus, on Friday, July 26, there will be a free bonfire party with live music, and you can roast marshmallows to make s'mores!
It is completely free to visit Nickel Beach if you walk in. But there is a $15 fee on weekdays for cars and a $20 parking fee on weekends and holidays. The unique thing about this beach is you'll be able to park your vehicle right on the sand!
Nickel Beach is the perfect spot for a day trip. You can pack a picnic lunch and spend the entire day with your friends.
