Ontario is full of magical winter destinations that offer everything from spectacular wintry views to outdoor skating trails and so much more. But getting to these destinations can be tough, especially if you don’t have a car with some solid snow tires. Luckily, thanks to a Toronto transit service, the famous Arrowhead Provincial Park is just a simple bus ride away this winter.

Parkbus Canada recently announced its winter 2020 lineup of destinations and trips and the gorgeous Arrowhead is the main attraction.

This year, the service is offering two types of trips to the park.

You can take the regular day trip and enjoy all the winter activities your heart can handle. This trip arrives in the morning and departs in the afternoon, leaving you with several hours to frolic in the snow.

Alternatively, they are offering an evening trip so you can enjoy Arrowhead's Fire and Ice Special. This trip arrives in the afternoon and departs later in the evening.

Right now, the trip will cost you only $79, which includes your bus fare, park entry fee, as well as a skating and ski pass for the park.

This early bird rate is being offered until December 22.

So, if you absolutely love exploring but are limited to transit-accessible adventures, then this Arrowhead trip is simply perfect.

The Toronto Parkbus pickup location is 34 Asquith Ave., which is about 100 metres from the Bloor-Yonge subway entrance.

The bus will also stop to pick up adventurers from the Major Mackenzie and Highway 401 carpool lot.

The trip is about two hours each way in total. When you arrive at Arrowhead, you’ll be dropped off at the Visitors Centre.

That's about a five-minute walk to the skating trail.

Here, you’ll find washrooms, snacks, dining areas, ski skate and snowshoe rentals, lockers, and more.

You can rent equipment on-site, but there is also plenty of room on the bus for you to bring your own skates and skis as well.

According to the Parkbus website, what will be available on your trip is largely dependant on the weather conditions that day.

“Depending on the weather conditions, you may be able to participate in more than one activity" it advises.

“For example, the tubing hill may only be open in the morning, and the skating trail may only be open in the afternoon, and vice versa. On Fire and Ice days, the ice trail closes at 3 p.m. for resurfacing and reopens towards 6 p.m.”

Of course, if the weather is too outrageous, your trip may also be cancelled. But that's to be expected, and if this scenario does occur, full refunds are available.

So, what are you waiting for? Get out and enjoy a beautiful day of outdoor winter fun. No cars necessary!
