Attention all Torontonians! If you're looking for an affordable getaway this year, then we've found it. We haven't seen prices this low to Costa Rica for some time and they might be the cheapest you can get this year.
Costa Rica is a perfect destination for adventurers who love hiking through the tropical forests, seeking out volcanoes and all kinds of outdoor and water sports. If you're more like a chill on the beach with a book kind of person, you'll still have a ton of fun here because Costa Rica is gorgeous. It's called the Switzerland of South America because it's clean and safe, plus they have good institutions like healthcare and policing.
Saving big on your flights like this means that you have a little extra room in your budget for accommodation, activities and my personal favourite reason to travel—food! The food in Costa Rica is on the mild side so it's not that spicy and there's a lot of rice and beans going on. You won't want to miss out on getting snacks and the local markets and, of course, eating flan.
Here's How To Get The Deal
Use Skyscanner and look for flights from Toronto (YYZ) to Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR). Skyscanner is my favourite site to use because it's really easy to find the cheapest flights. They even have an option to search for the "cheapest month" which is really helpful if you're flexible about your vacation time and you just want to find a good deal!
I searched for flights from Saturday, October 19 to Thursday, October 31 and found fights for $251. If you score one of these cheap flights, you might notice a significant layover in Panama but you might get a chance to explore another country for just an afternoon while you wait for your next flight!
