Even though it feels like we've been dealing with brutal winter weather for way too long, spring is on its way and it's going to be here sooner than we think!
When we think of spring a few things come to mind including snow melting, spending more time outdoors, and flowers blooming! One of the main sites during the spring months is the cherry blossoms that bloom in different spots across Ontario. The most popular spots to see them is in High Park in Toronto but if you want to avoid the crowds, head to Kariya Park in Mississauga instead!
Located just 30 minutes outside of Toronto, Kariya Park is the perfect place to escape this spring and experience the stunning cherry blossoms in full bloom! Kariya Park is a peaceful Japanese Garden that offers a sanctuary away from the city, filled with Sakura trees in springtime.
The park is designed with many Japanese elements, dedicated to Mississauga's sister city Kariya in Japan. While you're there you can walk across Japanese bridges, past gingko and sweetgum trees, and more! The park is open 7 days a week from 7 am until 9 pm.
Although the timing of the cherry blossom blooms varies each year, the best bet on when they'll be in full bloom will be late April to early May. Each bloom lasts about 21 days which means we'll have less than a month to get out there and appreciate their beauty in person!
The cherry blossoms are a truly magical site but inside a real Japanese garden just outside the city makes it that much more special!
