You've definitely heard of the insane pod hotels you can only find in Japan. You know, the hotel "rooms" that basically only fit one bed and are barely 75 square feet.
I know... looks like a space ship straight out of a Ridley Scott sci-fi movie right?
Whether you think these capsule hotels are the smartest way to travel or give you serious claustrophobia, you can't deny that the design is innovative and in all ways unique. Either way, at some point you've definitely wanted to experience this style of living.
It's 2018 now, and the rest of the world is catching up to Japan. Instead of having to fly thousands of kilometres just to stay in the world's tiniest hotel rooms, we are getting our very first pod hotels right here in Canada.
Located right at the heart of one of British Columbia's favourite ski and snowboard towns is the chic and stylish Pangea Pod Hotel. This innovative hotel is about to be Whistler's hottest spot for single travellers who are ready to mingle, meet new faces, and feel smart about their accommodation.
The boutique hotel will feature 88 independent sleeping pods with eight custom style rooms, each complete with:
- the softest double mattress that will make you feel like you're sleeping on a cloud
- personal charging stations for all your Insta and Facebook needs
- individualized built-in fan system for air circulation
- hooks and hangers for your boarding gear
- mirrors for your #OOTDs
- personal storage units
Looks just like the ones in Japan, right?! Yes... and also no. Don't be fooled, Pangea differentiates themselves from the Tokyo-style capsule hotels as they have designed each room to feel as spacious as possible.
Not only does Pangea Pod Hotel have awesome pod rooms, it also has an incredible rooftop patio where you can soak in all the Pacific Northwest mountain views, as well as a chic "Living Room" bar perfect for meeting other travellers.
While the hotel is slated to open this Summer 2018, Pangea is hosting an event this weekend where you can get a sneak peek of the pod rooms. If you happen to be in Whistler on Saturday, April 14, they will be hosting their sneak peek event from 3 PM to 6 PM at Corner Village Stroll and Sunrise Valley. You can even enter in their contest that could win you a two-night staycation at the Pod Hotel!
Live out your wildest capsule hotel dreams!!! Even if you are a little claustrophobic...
