Pablo Escobar has recently gained popularity through the oh-so-captivating show on Netflix called 'Narcos' and with season 2 coming out why not celebrate with a vacation somewhere 'Pablo-approved'.
After his death in 1993, many of Escobar’s properties were abandoned, including this mansion in Tulum. It was rediscovered in 2003, bought in 2012 by New York art dealer Lio Maclo, and revamped into a contemporary five-star resort by 2015. Check it out:
The resort is located right on the beach and also features an outside terrace area and massive pool. Feel free to get even more relaxed by booking a massage or private yoga session on the property.
The rooms and hotel are very eclectic and reflect the owner's love for art, with famous works sprinkled around the hotel.
The two restaurants on the resort are called Philosophy and Ambrosia—which use ingredients from the hotel’s garden and local vendors. Many of the Mexican dishes are prepared using ancestral Mayan techniques. From tacos to cevice to plates of fresh, fresh fruit, you won't have to ever leave the resort to get some proper Mexican fare.
