Canadian travellers have something to look forward to this summer – A new discount airline is launching, and it’s looking to offer flights for less than $100.
Canada Jetlines, which now just goes by Jetlines, is one of the new ultra-low-cost carriers to enter the Canadian travel market. The company made headlines back in September of last year when its President and CEO Stan Gadek announced that they are going to sell flights for “as cheap as a pair of jeans.”
"Jeans come in all sizes, styles and prices, but these are going to be very affordable jeans," Gadek said.
Jetlines will be holding a massive promotion ahead of its summer launch which will allow Canadians to purchase flights across Canada for just $10 each. The deal will be available to the first 1,000 customers and will include flights to various destinations in the country.
The promotion is similar to that recently released by Swoop airlines, WestJet’s answer to an ultra-low-cost carrier. Swoop offered $7.50 domestic flights to Canadians to celebrate its upcoming summer launch and it completely disrupted the travel market in Canada.
Jetlines will officially launch in June 2018, starting with two Boeing 737-800NG passenger aircrafts. Flights will depart from John C. Munro Airport in Hamilton, Ontario to various destinations in Canada.
"Canadians are overpaying for air travel and we intend to change that by offering customers the freedom to select the travel experience they want,” Gadek said in a news release.
Stay tuned on Jetlines’ official website in the upcoming weeks for their blockbuster $10 flights promotion.
Update 03/19/2018: According to Jetlines, they have pushed back their launch until 2019.
