Hiking season is officially upon us with rising temps, clear skies, and budding greenery. If you’re pining for fresh air, water, and trees, you can get away from it all and get back in touch with nature on this easy Alabama hike. Chinnabee Silent Trail takes you through the lush Talladega National Forest, past some enchanting waterfalls, and ends with a stunning mountaintop view.

Nothing beats earning a splash in a pristine waterfall after trudging through the woods on a long hike. Silent Trail is a moderate level hike, displaying the natural beautiful of the forest all around.

Constructed in 1977, it begins at Lake Chinnabee, running alongside Cheaha Creek, and ending after 6 miles atop Talladega Mountain.

Gushing streams, lofty rock outcrops, and beautiful waterfalls fill your view as you wander, making the time fly by. Your furry friends are welcome, but make sure they stay on a leash.

If you’re looking to stay in the area for a bit, you can even camp at the Shoal Creek Ranger District and Coleman Lake Recreation Center. There are plenty of lakes in the area to go kayaking, fishing, and boating, as well.

The view from Caney Head at the top of Talladega Mountain is the best reward at the end of your hike!

If you’re not much into hiking but still want to experience the sights, you can also check out the Talladega Scenic Drive, 29 miles of exploring the forest by car.

You can also take a detour and find your way to Lake Chinnabee and for a place to rest for a bit and enjoy a picnic.
