For a long time, Walls of Jericho was restricted to the public, but recently that’s all changed, and now adventurers can experience its hidden wonders of waterfalls, pools, and bluffs.
The Walls of Jericho straddles the Tennessee and Alabama border, encompassing a total of 21,453 acres.
Before the Forever Wild Land Trust purchased the Alabama acreage in 2004, public access was extremely limited due to private landowners and businesses. Today, the land welcomes visitors with hiking and horseback riding trails, camping, and even hunting.

With mountains, woods, springs, and bluffs, thisis a hike you won’t want to miss. Depending on the season, the turquoise pool the waterfall flows into may appear more dry — enabling those who visit an opportunity to stand at the foot of the falls.
At the start of the trailhead, the kiosk suggests the trek takes about six hours, but depending on skill level and physical fitness, some hikers may find four hours to be enough.
Either way, don't forget some water, and maybe even a snack or two for good measure.
Bear Den Loop is a less difficult trek to take to reach this hidden gem, totaling about 4.7 miles. While it may be more moderate when compared to the first trail, it's no less beautiful.
