With summer just around the corner, it is time to plan a getaway that is totally unique and different. There is a stunning beach park in Florida with the perfect ecosystem to relax and get that gorgeous golden tan. Caladesi Island State Park is an untouched Florida park with the clearest beaches in the Gulf of Mexico.
Caladesi Island is a true paradise with white sand beaches, stunning sunsets and unique bird species. You will need to make an extra effort to arrive to this haven as the island is just accessible by boat. To get here, you would need to take the Caladesi Connection ferry which travels to Caladesi Island State Park for a four-hour stay. The ferry fees are $14 for adults and $7 for children up to 12 years old.
This is not your typical Florida beach where you will find hundreds of tourists from all over the world. At Caladesi Island, you can stroll along the island’s pristine beaches or take a kayak trip through the bayside mangrove forest for an unforgettable experience.
The island features tons of wildlife and beautiful nature that you can enjoy through an incredible trail walk to the historic Scharrer Homestead. The expansive live oaks and old-growth slash pines makes it a unique place for photography and the most relaxing stroll of your life.
We recommend you bring your own food as food service is limited. All you need is your sunblock and a good partner to paddle with under the canopy shade through the water trails of Caladesi Island.
This is a unique kayaking experience where the paddling trail will take you through an extensive mangrove forest to a shallow sea grass flat and ends at the park's marina and cafe. If you are lucky enough, you might see dolphins, manatees, bald eagles or the bright pink roseate spoonbills. You can rent the kayaks at the cafe for $25 per person.
Caladesi Island State Park is located at Offshore Island, Dunedin, FL 34698. You can find more information on the park on their official website here!
