The root-beer-colored cascade flowing through the virescent forest is one of North Florida's best-kept little secrets. Falling Creek Falls is a waterfall plummeting more than 10 feet over a deep lip of limestone boasting whimsical views and charm.

According to Jacksonville Magazine, the waterfall's coffee color is due to the tannic acid of the decaying leaves covering the floor and banks. This park leads to a natural ecosystem where visitors can reach the scenic view through a wooden boardwalk with easy access. If you are looking for the perfect photo shoot backdrop, this is the ideal spot.

The area features picnic tables for a quick lunch and an easy hike for beginners. Falling Creek Falls is located right off I-10 providing road trippers a quaint escape.

According to a Trip Advisor user, "This waterfall is off the beaten path. It is located back in the woods, so wear bug repellent because the mosquitoes might be horrible."

It is recommended to go during a dry day, since the rain can attract many mosquitoes in the area. Even though the waterfall is small, the soda-colored waters offer a relaxing view.

The waterfalls are just a short walk from Lake City and there is also a wooden chapel half a mile down the road currently in use.

Falling Creek Falls is handicap accessible and you can easily go with a stroller. However, pets are not allowed in the park. A short trip from Jacksonville will give you the zen vibe you need during any given weekend.

So, if you are looking for short trips to do from Jacksonville this is one to add to your bucket list.
