This Florida Park With Suspension Bridges Is Like Exploring A Lost Jungle Civilization
Ravine Gardens State Park is unforgettable.
There is a park hidden in North Florida that looks like the ruins of an ancient lost civilization. Undoubtedly one of Florida's most unique places, Ravine Gardens State Park is a great place to explore suspension bridges, memorials, and stone steps as if you're in a lost world.
Ravine Gardens State Park may not really be ancient, but it is historic. The park dates back to the New Deal era, when the Works Progress Administration (WPA) turned the site into a garden, according to Florida State Parks.
The park is bursting with beautiful greenery, giving the overgrown look of a lost world. Its gigantic trees are draped in moss, making you feel like you're on a jungle safari while you explore the gardens.
Ravine Gardens features two suspension bridges that offer stunning views of the park. The bridges are popular spots for photos & you can walk across the bridges to enjoy the view.
Another historic feature of Ravine Gardens is the memorial to Franklin D. Roosevelt. The memorial is 64 feet tall and made of limestone and brick, built by the WPA back in 1933, according to Waymarking.com.
You may run across several sets of stone steps in the park, built into the lush surroundings. There are also several dreamy bubbling springs in the park where you can see underground water feed into the ravines.
Ravine Gardens is open every day from 8 a.m. to sundown. Visit this fall and enjoy the park's vibrant autumn colors.
