The roots of the hippie movement with a sense of freedom, a wanderer spirit, and the philosophy of peace is something worth reviving in today's world, right? If you also love all the colors, textures, and patterns that they showered us with, there's a magical place you need to visit ASAP. Whimzeyland, a hidden gem in Florida is a colorful hippie paradise that will brighten your days.
If you pass by this Instagrammable place, you'd probably stop for a quick selfie. You can strike a pose near Ellie, their pink elephant mascot, or with an array of eccentric artifacts, unique sculptures, colorful mosaic floors, or mirror walls.
The place exists thanks to Todd Ramquist and Kiaralinda, two passionate Florida artists with a taste for anything out of the ordinary, fun, and colorful.
They started their work with the house more than 20 years ago. At first, it was just their residence and studio, later on, they founded the Safety Harbor Art And Music Center (SHAMc).
The house has been featured in HGTV, MTV, and Facebook Watch. Their elephant mascot sculpture, Ellie, can even be seen in a Hallmark movie.
The schools offer an array of art classes and workshops such as hand-building clay, pottery, mosaic creation, recycling, repurposing, and much more.
They even offer writing workshops and Spanish language classes for both kids and adults as well as host events like the Safety Harbor Songfest, writing and poetry events, summer camps, and other kid's activities.
Whimzeyland exudes creativity in every corner, and if you look closely, you'll see there is a lot of effort put into every mosaic piece, sculpture, and piece of decor.
Both the interior and exterior are equally gorgeous. You will find a collection of bowling balls, ornaments created with bottles, tile mosaics, a group of totems, and curious sculptures.
This place is a vast reserve of all sorts of mysterious devices waiting for you to discover them.
You can stop by and explore the house on the outside for free, but if you want to see it all, book a tour inside Whimzeyland. You won't be disappointed.
