Zebras are hands-down some of the cutest animals, but we normally only get to see them from behind a fence at the zoo. Lucky for Floridians, you can get an up-close zebra experience at this exotic farm that actually lets you pet the animals. With a bunch of fuzzy friends and an adorable wine barn, Obloy Family Ranch makes for a super fun day trip from Tampa.
Located on a huge nature preserve on Merritt Island, the ranch is the perfect spot for zebra lovers to hang out with the stripiest members of the Animal Kingdom. There are even special treats that you can feed your favorite zebra.
Yes, you read that correctly. A zebra will literally eat from your hand. Is there literally anything sweeter than that?
If you are looking for other animals to love, Obloy Farms is also home to a bunch of exotic cuties, like camels, lemurs, peacocks, alpacas, goats and more. Not all of the animals are part of the petting zoo. But, they are all around for photo ops.
You can experience this bliss any day of the week from Monday to Saturday between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Tickets are only fifteen dollars, which is a pretty awesome deal for such a unique experience.
When you need a break from enjoying all of the warm fuzzies, you can chill out with a glass (or three!) of wine served in an enormous barn.
The wines are all produced locally in the farm's winery and have zippy names like "Rebel," "Spurs," and my personal fave, "Bucked Off."
If you're up for a challenge, you can order an entire flight and sip all seven wines. The selection is super Southern, with funky flavors like Georgia peach and, obvi, Florida oranges.
These drinks are actually so refreshing after a day of cuteness overload in the sunshine.
The farm doesn't ask for reservations, so you are free to snuggle your favorite animal friends anytime during opening hours. This basically means that you can just grab your BFFs, hop in the car and go on an adventure.
The drive takes just under two hours from start to finish, so make sure to bring plenty of snacks for your trip. But be careful not to share any granola bars or potato chips with the animals! People-food is totally not allowed during animal feeding time.
The ranch itself is a sight to see with stunning green cypress trees, an old wooden train and a 3000 square foot barn.
Your friends will love to wander the grounds with their cameras.
In case you love it there too much to leave, you can even rent a cabin and spend the night.
