A camping trip and floating in your tube or kayak on the water is one of the most relaxing ways to enjoy Florida in the summer, but bare-bones camping can get uncomfortable sometimes. Thankfully, there is an Airbnb in Florida that lets you glamp on water.
Superhost Journey easily has one of the coolest Airbnb rentals we have ever seen. Her one of a kind floating barrel boathouse cabin in Key Largo allows you to enjoy and be one with nature, without having to lay on the ground.
The Salty Seahorse boat house comfortably sleeps 2 on the queen bed inside of the barrel cabin, where you even have a little flat screen tv and DVD player. Bring along your favorite movie for a cozy night indoors after snorkeling and swimming all day.
You'll even have your own personal Tiki Bar onboard your little floating oasis, giving you sweeping panoramic views of the water. Sit comfortably at your cute tiki bar on the barstools or chill in the reclining beach chairs under the tiki umbrella as you admire a gorgeous sunset.
You can check out some photos of the Salty Seahorse below.
The host even includes everything you need for your stay - such as a propane grill, cutlery, dinnerware, towels, bed linens, TP, soap, shampoo - the whole 9. The included Yeti cooler will keep your food and drinks cold. Fish off the edge of the floating cabin for a fresh catch, which you can wash and grill right up on the provided sink area and grill.
An outdoor waterfall shower will be onboard next to the bar sink too so you can keep clean after a long day of fun in the sun. Soak up the sun surrounded by mother nature as you run your fingers through your sudsy hair; you'll wonder why we ever invented indoor showers in the first place.
Those worried about privacy, fret not - the shower comes with a pull curtain, or you can go back to the mainland to use the passcode-protected shower facility. A movable anti-bacterial toilet will also be onboard.
While the boathouse is solar powered, no A.C. is available as it draws too much power. Camping this floating oasis will give you that original camping feel, but with a unique twist and some creature comforts. The host also provides vent and room fans to help keep you cool and suggests wearing light sleepwear at night, as well as keeping the door open for that tropical breeze.
Since you're on the water, mosquitos are bound to happen. Superhost Journey suggests bringing bug spray and provides guests with a bug net for those wishing to keep the door open at night.
Getting to the boathouse is a beautiful 15-minute journey across the water done by the hosts dingy, which is available for your personal use during your stay to fish off of or get to and from your cabin & the mainland.
The entire check-in process takes about 45 minutes, including your dingy voyage out to The Salty Seahorse; Superhost Journey asks that guests arrive between 2 pm and 4 pm for check-in. Check-ins cannot be done after sundown.
If you want to have the best place to camp & perfect your tan, renting this little floating paradise is surprisingly affordable at only $178 per night for 2 people; that's only $89 per person. They do however have a hefty $90 cleaning fee that applies to each stay as cleaning and dressing this unique space requires a lot of time to ensure every new camper is happy.
Due to the size of each boathouse, all cargo (humans and baggage) cannot exceed 450 pounds. There is also minimal storage on board; if you are staying in the area for a while the host suggests packing an overnight bag to take while you camp out.
Guests must be relatively fit to be able to climb in and out of the dinghy, climb the swim ladder onto the unit, and spend their vacation in a smaller area.
