And so it begins the time of the year where everytime you switch the TV on, chances are you'll come across a Christmas movie playing on the Hallmark channel. If you love that warm and fuzzy feeling it brings you, why not turn it up a notch and make a trip down to Dahlonega, Georgia where you'll step right into a Hallmark Christmas movie.
Dahlonega at this time of the year is like Christmas throwing up everywhere, but in the most tasteful way. The town is a beautiful place to visit year-round, with small town (and relaxing) vibes to get you through your trip. We are talking about locals knowing all the locals.
But during Christmastime, it gets even more special. Right after Thanksgiving is over, the town turns into a whimsical wonderland. Everywhere you turn, you'll see exactly why you love the holidays so much.
Kick-off will take place on Nov. 29 at 6p.m., with the lighting of the square. At this ceremony, the town will gather to hear The Plaids (assuming these are local carolers) sing Christmas music and watch the lighting of the tree.
The Christmas lights and decorations will stay up until Jan. 12, as well as the run of the activities. You can hop on a carriage for a horse-drawn carriage ride that is offered daily, and will pass by the cutest Christmas displays. Or how about going to say hi to Santa?
All around the square you'll see the store displays decked out in Christmas gear. Like any Hallmark movie, there's a general store and it's surrounded by many other stores that locals probably pick up supplies from.
The courthouse is also in walking distance and a perfect backdrop for your Christmas cards this year.
