If you're stuck in the same old routine, you may want to try something new, especially once the weather starts to get warmer. There are plenty of things to do around Atlanta when you're looking for something new with your friends. While gem mining in Georgia may not be the first thing that comes to mind, you'd be surprised at what you pretty things you can find.

That's especially true when you make your way to Graves Mountain in Lincolnton, Georgia. This mountain is a source of a wide variety of minerals, including fuschite, kyanite and hematite. Most of these minerals are gorgeous, but you're not going to believe the iridescent minerals you'll find there.

From iridescent turgite to kyanite, these are some pretty impressive minerals to bring home with you. Luckily, you can visit the mountain to mine some for yourself.

While you can always call and make a private reservation, you'll probably want to go during the last weekend in April when there is a public rock swap and dig.

From Friday, April 24, to Sunday, April 26, you'll have access to the mountain from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. You don't want to miss this event because the next one won't happen until October.

It's totally free to go into the mine and dig for all the minerals you can find. However, it's a good idea to give a donation, as the caretakers of the property need funds to make sure other people can continue to enjoy it in the future.

While you're there, you can meet other people who love minerals just as much as you do.

You can also swap your finds with others, which is a great way to make new friends.

Don't worry about getting hungry while you're out on the mountain either. Hot food and drinks will be available for purchase while you're there, so you may want to take a break and get something to eat.

There are also other hidden mines to check out in Georgia, whether you're on the hunt for crystals or geodes, which is an excellent way to expand your rock collection even further.
