Located in Hiawassee and Young Harris, Georgia, Lake Chatuge is the place you will want to spend some summer days while feeling like you are in another world.
This location has golf courses, hiking, fishing spots, spas, and places to stay if you want to extend your day trip.
One popular spot at this destination is the Towns County Beach, that has 132 acres of shoreline to adventure and explore. You can swim, boat, or have a picnic with a great view.
The mountains that surround the entire property of the beach are the North Georgia Mountains.
These mountains are huge, standing from 1,000 feet above sea level to 4,000 feet. These mountains are over a billion years old, but they sure do not look like it.
Town County Beach is actually in the valley of these mountains, but it is man-made. Looking out into the water, you would never know that this lake was not naturally made, because it looks a picture perfect mountain valley lake that has always been there.
The lake, Town Country Beach, is free to attend, which makes this destination even better. This spot is the perfect place away from the large cities in Georgia.
They even have a live feed of the beach on their website, so you can see how busy it is the day you are wanting to visit.

This area does have a concession stand that is open seven days a week that have hot dogs, candy, drinks, and other snacks, so you can grab some grub throughout the day.
After a long day of swimming, you can choose to go into Town County to grab some lunch or dinner at the variety of restaurants they have in town like cafes, fast-food joints, and nicer sit-down eateries.
If you are more into water attractions and boating, Lake Chatuge has these as well. You can rent pontoon boats, jet skis, kayaks, or canoes from local companies and be on your way to a day of fun.
