The summer is a great time to go on road trips and pitch a tent, but you have to deal with the humidity and the bugs. Prime time to camp and travel has got to be the fall because the leaves will be colorful and everywhere, and there might be fewer bugs. You can go glamping in Georgia at Ford Yargo State Park, where you can also hike. This makes for a great beginning-of-the-season vacation.

Fort Yargo State Park is located in Winder, Georgia between Athens and Atlanta. Whether you are a biker, a hiker, or just an outdoor lover, you will thoroughly enjoy this destination that is located in a prime spot in Georgia.

After you finish your day of being an outdoor explorer, you do not even have to leave to go back home. There are many camping spots along the property, and you can even glamp. You and your besties can glamp in a yurt that makes for a great experience.

Whether you are a hiker or not, you will want to explore the 20.5 miles of trails that Fort Yargo has to offer. Now, you probably won't hike 20 miles, but you can explore the shorter trails.

The Bird Berry Trail is the shortest coming in at a whole half-mile round trip. This trail has everything you need for a nature adventure. You will come upon a gazebo and a bird-watching platform that allows you to see some of the animals that reside in this area. The best part is it is wheelchair accessible, so everyone can enjoy this less than a mile journey.

Aside from hiking, you are more than welcome to bring your bike to mountain bike through the terrain. You should also bring your bathing suit because there is a 260-acre lake that is great for boating, swimming and kayaking.

To experience all that this location has to offer, you have to stay for the weekend. If you really want to get the FULL experience, you must stay in one of the famous yurts. These "tents" are made of wood and canvas and is like a luxury camping experience.

You will have a full deck, a grill and fire ring, furniture and electricity (which means you can even stay here during the winter and not freeze to death). There are other glamping opportunities in Georgia like this dome that has an outdoor bathtub and this RV that is a mini paradise.
