Even though we're all indoors these days, there's no reason to not plan for the upcoming summer. If you're already looking where to hike in North Carolina, these locations have amazing views and even colorful waterfalls. 

Grandfather Mountain

Why You Need To Go: This 300 million-year-old rock formation is 5,946 feet above sea level and has the most amazing views. There's also a famous Mile High Swinging Bridge that connects at two peaks - cross if you dare. 

Art Loeb Trail

Why You Need To Go: Located in Pisgah National Forest, this 28.5-mile hike is considered moderate for any experience level so pack a snack (and the pup) and make your way through this winding trail. 

Graveyard Fields

Why You Need To Go: This four-mile hike has two beautiful waterfalls that you just have to see for yourself. 

Rough Ridge

Why You Need To Go: This  13-mile hike is a bit bumpy, but offers incredible views of Grandfather Mountain. 

Lower Cascade Falls

Tennent Mountain Loop

Craggy Pinnacle

Why You Need To Go: This super short 1.2-mile hike takes travelers 250 feet into the air for a bird's eye view, surrounded by greenery and gardens. 

Huckleberry Knob

Why You Need To Go: This short 2.5-mile hike in the Nantahala National Forest is only 400-feet above the ground. Because of this, visitors tend to make this spot a romantic picnic date with breathtaking views.
