Getting out of the house and into the depths of nature is always a good idea, but sometimes finding the best spots to go hiking in your state can be tricky. To really experience the beauty of the outdoors, you need to head out on this slot canyon hike near Santa Fe, New Mexico. You will be amazed by all this spot has to offer.

Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument is an incredible outdoor study area managed by the Bureau of Land Management, and it has to your next spot to go hiking.

The National Monument is known for the giant scenic cone shaped formations called Hoodoos that lie within it. The hoodoos are made up of deposits from massive volcanic eruptions that happened around 6 to 7 million years ago!

However, this spot is more exciting than just a place to look at rock formations, it's the coolest spot where you can hike through narrow slot canyons. You can head out on the National Recreational Trail for an exciting hiking adventure.

The trail consists of two different parts that are perfect for exploring. There's the Cave Loop Trail and the Canyon Trail. The first is 1.2 miles long and can be considered a fairly easy stroll.

The Canyon Trail is a little longer, at 1.5-miles, and is more difficult than the first. This trail is one-way only, leading you down the natural hallways of a slot canyon.

Once you wind your way through the cracks and crevices of the canyon, you'll begin to climb to the peak of the trail.

After your 630-ft-tall climb to the top of the trail, you'll be greeted with the most enchanting sights of the Sangre de Cristo, Jemez, Sandia mountains and the Rio Grande Valley. How insane is that?!

The start of the magical trails begins at the designated Monument parking area.

You can make a whole day trip out of visiting the area by bringing a picnic to enjoy at their rest areas, complete with tables, shelters and toilets.
