Seeing a hot air balloon fly over your house never gets old and you get just as excited to see one now as when you were a kid. Seeing them fly at this hot air balloon festival with the backdrop of the mountains is even better and that's what you'll get this summer. This childhood dream festival is just one of the things to do in Tennessee this summer.
The Great Smoky Mountain Hot Air Balloon Festival will be taking over on August 15, 2020. While this date might seem a little far away, tickets will sell out months before the event because it's just that popular.
As the sun goes down, the balloons will glow and light up the sky. From 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., you can sit back and relax on a blanket and take it all in.
If you want to go up in a balloon and get the thrilling experience, you can buy tickets on the day of the event for $20 or in advance for $25.
Your experience will last five to seven minutes, which might be enough if you're not a big fan of heights.
The tethered ride will take you about 30 feet in the air and only those 8 and are allowed to ride.
For all of you 21 and up, you might be happy to hear that there will be a beer tent just for you.
Honestly, it doesn't get much better than a hot day and a cold beer, right?
There will also be a wine tasting from Nine Lakes Wine Country for an additional $10 and you get a commemorative wine glass and a six-compartment wine tote with your ticket purchase.
Parking can be bought in advance for $20 and this gives you a for sure spot at the event.
