A trip to Africa for a real safari adventure is definitely a bit expensive. Lucky for us, Texas is big enough to have just about everything, including its own safari. The wildlife conservation center Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Glen Rose lets visitors get up close and personal with tons of giraffes, zebras, and much more.
From the comfort of your own car, you can drive around the wildlife center with your windows rolled down to properly feed the amazing exotic animals. The tours let you meet animals like ostriches and giraffes, and if the timing is right you might even get to meet their kudu, cheetahs or addax.
The regularly scheduled tours are about an hour or two depending on the weather and are only $30 per person. You can also take a behind the scenes tour where you will get to see the animals that aren't available to see on the regular tour. This includes their wolves and black rhinoceros. This tour is $54 per person but totally worth it.
The center has plenty of other tours available including a photography workshop tour and a sweethearts tour that range from $12 to $325. The tours offer everything from being able to go with the caretakers to the morning feeding for the animals to have a romantic dinner with your significant other among the wildlife.
Other the years, the center has tried its hardest to make strides in conservation efforts. Their mission is to preserve as much wildlife as possible by encouraging endangered animal breeding and changing peoples perspectives on nature. The center has been involved in a number of rescue missions throughout North America helping animals in need and nursing them to health with the help of highly skilled professionals.
The center wanted to make their safari experience better than ever for all of their guests, so they added the chance for guests to stay at their cabins or lodges starting at just $125. You can spend the night among the habitats of the free-roaming animals and even enjoy your buffet breakfast overlooking them graze!
