San Antonio has tons of great places that are a must-see but the drive to the Alamo city can be kind of long when coming from up North and we don't blame you if you're just not up for the road trip. If you do happen to be one of those people but you still don't want to miss out on the cool SA attractions, boy, do we have a surprise for you. The Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine brings San Antonio's greatest attractions to North Texas.
The massive resort has indoor replicas of both the river walk and the Alamo in their four and a half acre park. The replicas are not exactly the same as the original-- the Alamo, for example, is a place where you can sit down and have a nice cup of coffee after a restful stay in one of their suites. The bottom half of the "Alamo" is a cafe and the top half has several rooms that guests can spend the night in.
Visitors can take a walk down the famous "San Antonio Riverwalk" any time of year at the resort. The glass ceiling makes it to where you can still get some sun but avoid the intense Texas heat and the occasional rain. Guests are also allowed to stay in the rooms around the river walk and some even come with their own terrace overlooking the water.
A stay in the replica room can be around $320 a night but you can also choose to stay in one of their other rooms for $160 a night. Don't worry, you can still walk around and enjoy the Riverwalk no matter which room you stay in. The resort is open year round and we recommend planning in advance because they do fill up in the summertime.
