There is an easy hike near El Paso that is so full of wonders and treasures that you need to make it your next day trip. Located at the Lincoln National Forest in the neighboring state of New Mexico, this scenic loop trail hike near Texas is a hidden gem for many Texans and should be on your bucket list if you love outdoor adventures.

Osha Trail is a 2.5-mile trail located near Cloudcroft, in New Mexico, that's a less than a 2-hour trip from El Paso.

This hiking spot is one of the favorites in the Lincoln National Forest, not only because it is beautiful at any time of the year, but also for all the surprises that await you along the way.

Probably the most famous one is the Mexican Canyon Railway Trestle, which is a sweet spot for one of a kind pictures. Some people even have professional couple or wedding photoshoots there. Crazy!

Osha Trail begins and ends at Us Hwy. 82, just north of the Village of Cloudcroft. It is better to wander the area from May to November, though you may encounter some traffic at that time of the year.

Many people enjoy snowy landscapes and go for a quieter visit out of that time frame.

Your furry pals are more welcome to join the walk with you, just keep them on a leash all the time and pick up after them.

Let's talk a little bit about the treasures that await you on this trail. Besides the old railroad trestle, you may encounter a former ski lift chair repurposed as a swing. There is also a bench carved out of an actual fallen tree.

The trail has a 396-foot elevation change, so the views all along the way are breathtaking.

Make sure to take your camera with you, and probably even a designated photographer.

Filled with mountains and canyons, the landscapes of Osha Trail aren't that common in Texas' trails.

Depending on the time you go, the trail changes. During spring and summertime, it will be packed with wildflowers, lush greenery, and roaming butterflies.

You can also spot wildlife, including deers, squirrels, and a variety of birds.

No bikes or motorized vehicles are allowed at Osha Trail.

And as you do when you visit any outdoor location, respect nature, and please pick your trash and leave the spaces as you encounter them.
