When Texans think of going on a nature-filled adventure in the state, they typically end up thinking about spots around the Hill Country or Big Bend National Park, but there is one exciting place that will never cease to amaze those who visit it. The Guadalupe Mountains National State Park is home to so many stunning natural features, including actual Texas white sand dunes that you can explore. If you haven't made the journey out here yet, you absolutely need to.

The Guadalupe Mountains National State Park lies in the expansive Chihuahuan Desert in West Texas. You can find so many unique features at this park, it's incredible.

There are fossilized reef mountains, flowing white hills of sand at the Salt Basin Dunes, and plenty of trails that will lead you to impressive views.

Taking a trip up the Guadalupe Peak Trail will get you all the way up through a conifer forest and straight to the state of Texas' highest summit! The views from up here are definitely worth it.

The Salt Basin Dunes that lie at the base of the rocky mountains are a must-see when you're in the area. The fluffy white hills cover about 2,000 cars and can reach over 60 feet tall!

It's truly awe-inspiring to see the endless bright rolling dunes under the backdrop of the dark, looming Guadalupe Mountains.

The power of the elements sculpted the physical features of the Guadalupe Mountains and the Salt Basin. The National State Park began being formed around 26 million years ago in the early Miocene Epoch.

What we get to enjoy and experience now is the result of multiple millions of years of erosion, earthquakes, and continuous changes in the local climate!

If you haven't made the trip out to the Guadalupe Mountains or the dreamy sand dunes that lie beneath them, you will need to plan your trip ASAP.

Just make sure to always be mindful of the environment and pick up after yourselves to ensure that this beauty lasts for millions of years to come.
