Texas seems to have one main beach spot that everyone flocks to in the summer, the iconic South Padre Island. While there are other decent beaches scattered around like the ones in Galveston and Corpus Cristi, they are usually always overfilled with people. Thankfully, Texas has a beautiful hidden beach near Mexico called Boca Chica.
The beach is located near Brownsville, Texas and on the way to the hidden gem, you'll see flowing sand dunes, wildlife, and even the SpaceX station. You might not be able to enter the station, but you can take pics from a distance with a rocket or two. The beach is unique because you can see both the Mexico coastline and South Padre Island from the shore.
There is a $5 parking fee for the beach but other than that you are free to swim and fish as long as you'd like. They do have a few rules that include a strict no glass rule as well as a no ATVs rule. It's the perfect spot to relax in the sun with your friends for the best summer day ever.
Pets are welcome on the beach so we wouldn't be surprised if you see a horse or two strolling around. This also means you're more than welcome to bring your favorite puppy with you as long as you clean up after them. The beach also has a number of turtles hanging out on the shore when the weather is just right.
Boca Chica is very secluded so there aren't restaurants or gift shops surrounding the place, which means it's just you and undisrupted nature. This unfortunately also means there aren't any restrooms around so we suggest you go before arriving.
Boca Chica Beach is open 24 hours and is located on Boca Chica Blvd in Brownsville, Texas. You can visit the beach's official website for more information and directions here!
