A trip to Texas is guaranteed to be filled with adventure, especially with the number of natural areas around the Lone Star State. One of the more notable spots is Enchanted Rock near San Antonio, which is especially great for hiking, exploring, and stargazing. We recommend making a trip here ASAP while the Texas weather is still bearable.
Enchanted Rock is open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and requires just a $7 entrance fee for adults. For the busier times of the year, reservations are highly recommended to guarantee entry into the park.
Thanks to the rural dark sky that encompasses Enchanted Rock, it makes for one of the best public places for stargazing in all of Central Texas.
After paying the entrance fee and timing your visit correctly, all that's left to do is pick any place around the park to sit back, relax, and marvel at the sky.
You may be in for quite the hike when you head over to this majestic nature spot, so we recommend planning accordingly. This time of year, the weather is one less thing to have to worry about.
Considering the park closes to the public at 10, it might be smart to look into camping overnight. They have a variety of campsites to choose from that range from $14 to $100 in addition to the $7 entrance fee.
The price for each campsite varies depending on what is included and how many people it can fit.
If you'd rather leave after you've gotten your fix of all of the marvelous constellations, including the Milky Way, that's totally doable as well.
Fredericksburg, the town the park is in, is near plenty of places you can stay the night instead. There's something about camping with your loved ones, though, that can make it much more worth your while.
If Enchanted Rock is a serious drive away from you, Fredericksburg makes it very easy to make a whole day trip out of the journey.
There are shops, restaurants, places to try their world-famous peaches and much more.
Get your telescopes ready, you won't want to miss out on marveling at our vast universe from an unbelievable view.
