Texas has tons of beaches but most of them are filled with wild tourists and tons of spots to eat. However, there is one beach that has none of the crazy tourism and all of the beauty. San Jose Island of off Port Aransas is completely untouched and you can visit whenever you like.
The island is privately owned but as long as you stay on the sandy shores and don't go past the vegetation line, you are more than welcome to visit. The only way to get to the island is to take a ferry from Port Aransas. Visitors of the place can enjoy 21 miles of undisturbed land which means you have more of a chance to find sand dollars, starfish, and shark eyes.
Vehicles are prohibited on the site, to keep it as pristine as possible. You are allowed to fish as much as you'd like, as long as you are responsible and clean up properly. Without tourist attractions blocking the view, the stunning island is the perfect place to go bird watching. The island doubles as a ranch, so you might see a longhorn or two up in the vegetation area.
At the end of the day, a ferry will come to pick everyone up to be dropped off back at Port Aransas where you can stay in one of their cottages or hotels that are close to the ferries so you can go back the very next day.
San Jose Island is only accessible through the ferries in Port A, which are located at 1300 Port St in Port Aransas, Texas. For more information on this amazing untouched island and to plan your summer visit, you can their website here.
