Even if you've never seen the classic movie, Dirty Dancing, you probably have seen people reenact the lake scene when Jennifer Gray jumps into Patrick Swayze's arms. The movie was filmed on the east coast and you can actually visit this Dirty Dancing filming location for free. Once it's safe to start traveling again, you should add this to your bucket list.
This resort was the last place Baby wanted to go in the summer of 1963, but it ended up being the place where she met the love of her life, Johnny.
Since the movie was filmed, this location has turned into a spot for visitors to actually stay and adventure. It's currently closed due to COIVD-19, but once it clears up, you're free to book a night.
Set up all around the lodge are posts that tell you what scene was filmed in that exact location. There's really not much that's changed to the lodge, aside from the lake. It's now dried up, but you can still see where it once was.
There are even a few weekends out of the year that the hotel dedicates to the movie. There are group dance lessons, a movie tour and a dance party that takes place in Mary's Barn.
The spot where all the dance lessons took place in the film is still standing. You can explore the white gazebo and reminisce on what was filmed here many years ago.
You and a group of friends can even stay in the very cabin Baby and her family stayed in during the summer. It can hold up to 10 guests and has three bedrooms.
If you're a fan of the movie or just appreciate the beauty of this location, it might be the perfect vaycay spot for you and your friends.
