We always tend to hear that Norway is one of the best countries in the world to stay witness to the Northern Lights, but hey - did you know that the good ole Great North also tops that list for being the ultimate viewing party?!
From early fall to mid April, the areas within Northern Canada are some of the world’s greatest hotspots to witness the Aurora Borealis. For most of us Canadians, we know that the northern lights are an absolute wonder and all, but do we ever believe we’ll ever catch them in our lifetime? Well, at Blachford Lake Lodge, a resort in the Northwest Territories, yes - you motherf*cking can!
A stunning wilderness lodge in Yellowknife, the Blachford Lake Lodge is open during both summer and winter for some special Aurora viewing. A fly-in only resort located at a perfect 62 degrees north, this million-dollar viewing accommodation is one of the most stunning places to witness the Northern Lights. Whether it’s from the comfort of your own room, the tipi, or the various lounge areas scattered across the resort, a 360 degree view of the sky isn’t hard to find.
While there are multiple packages to choose from, the all inclusive Aurora package includes an air charter, all meals and accomodations, the use of recreational gear, photography tips, and the winter-season-only Tire sur la neige feast.
During the summer, the lodge offers their viewings from mid-August through mid-October, while the winter season is available from mid-December through April.
