New Photo & Video Of Justin Trudeau In Blackface Have Been Discovered In The Past 12 Hours

Two more instances of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau darkening his skin in the past have surfaced. Just hours after Time Magazine published a picture of Trudeau in brownface, dressed up as Aladdin at a 2001 Arabian Nights-themed high school party, another photo and a video showing separate instances of Trudeau in blackface were released.
In the newly-surfaced photo, Trudeau can be seen wearing makeup to darken his face. He is also wearing an afro wig and an '80s-looking blazer. Apparently, Trudeau is singing Harry Belafonte’s Day-O (The Banana Boat Song) in this picture. Evan Solomon, the host of CTV’s Question Period and a Maclean's columnist, said that his sources confirmed this is the picture of the second incident that Trudeau referenced in his press conference on the night of September 18. The photo is from a Brebeuf College School yearbook.
During the press conference, Trudeau was asked if there were any other instances besides the two where he could have been considered racist or that he had blackface or brownface on. Trudeau replied, “I think it’s been plenty, and the fact of the matter is I’ve always — and you’ll know this — been more enthusiastic about costumes than is sometimes appropriate, but these are the situations I regret deeply.” The same reporter asked if there were more instances than the two that were mentioned. Trudeau repeated, “These are the situations I regret deeply.”
On the morning of September 19, Global News published a video that showed the Prime Minister in another instance of blackface.
The blurry video, which has no sound, begins with two people seemingly dancing and dressed up in costumes. The video then cuts to another person dancing in a rainbow afro wig. Finally, the video cuts to a young Justin Trudeau. He is wearing a short-sleeved white t-shirt and jeans that are ripped at the knees. Trudeau's face, arms, and knees appear to be darkened in the video.
Global had reportedly obtained the video from a source earlier in the week and had been trying to verify the video before publishing it. It was only the morning of Thursday, September 19 that Global was able to get confirmation from a senior member of the Liberal campaign that it is indeed Trudeau in the video. They also reached out to the person they believed to have taken the video, but the person would not confirm or deny any further details, including whether or not it was Trudeau in blackface.
Meanwhile, a different photo of Trudeau in brownface as Aladdin has also been making the rounds on Twitter.
Canadians will be voting for the country’s next leader on October 21. Prime Minister Trudeau has confirmed participation in the Leaders’ Debate in English, scheduled for October 7.
