Uncut Gems on Netflix Canada actually premiered at TIFF back in 2019, and after months of waiting, fans are finally able to watch the Adam Sandler crime thriller on the streaming service. The movie scored an astounding 92% on Rotten Tomatoes and fans can’t get over the cast’s amazing performance.

Directed by Benny and Josh Safdie, Uncut Gems stars Sandler as Howard Ratner, a New York City jeweller who often finds himself in risky situations.

According to the film’s synopsis on IMDb, Ratner “makes a series of high-stakes bets that could lead to the windfall of a lifetime. Howard must perform a precarious high-wire act, balancing business, family, and encroaching adversaries on all sides in his relentless pursuit of the ultimate win.”

Sandler is usually known for playing goofy comedy roles, so taking on this new project was a welcome change. According to Vox, the role of Ratner almost went to Borat star Sascha Baron Cohen or Superbad actor Jonah Hill.

Uncut Gems has proven itself to be a tough watch, with tension building throughout the film. Slash Film reported that the movie has a total of 408 “F-bombs”, which is the 7th most in film history.

The movie may have just made its way onto Netflix, but viewers are already sharing their thoughts on Twitter.

“Hey! #UncutGems is now available to stream on Netflix! Do yourself a favour and watch one of the most snubbed movies of 2019! It’s exceptional, and Adam Sandler KILLS it,” one fan tweeted.

“Uncut Gems is the best film I've seen in years. Boot up Netflix and raise your blood pressure to unhealthy levels for 2 hours,” commented another.

The movie also shows Canadian artist The Weeknd making his acting debut. The “Blinding Lights” singer plays himself from a few years back, and while his performance is brief, it’s still awesome.
