There are a lot of food festivals in Florida. But, how about a festival dedicated to Floridians' favorite pie? The Key Lime Pie Festival is coming to Key West this summer and you might just want to break your bikini diet for this one.
Celebrate America's favorite pie and Independence weekend at this fun festival. The Key Lipe Pie Fest will be held from July 4th-7th in Key West and will be packed with so many activities that one day is just not enough. The festival starts with a Key Lime Scavenger hunt, hidden local favorite places, and the best bars. You can participate for $30 per person with up to five people per team.
If scavenger hunts are not your thing, you can also sip and stroll around 12 bars in Key West. You'll be eating pie, sipping drinks, and judging the restaurants for the Key Lime Martini & Margarita Championships. You can register for this here.
The festival also has a key lime pie drop on July 6th from 11 am to 2 pm at the Key West Lighthouse. Just watch how people try to land a pie without damaging it. The event is free to the public.
And of course, they will have the world's largest key lime pie.
Also, there's no food festival without a proper eating contest. On July 4th you can participate in a key lime pie eating contest for $20 and eat a 9" key lime pie as fast as you can.
The Key Lime Pie Festival will have key lime pie cooking classes, key lime cookbook signing, and the opportunity to eat key lime pie at the mansion where it was first created, and many other activities. For more information on the other events check here.
If you want good key lime pie, you have to go where it all began. Nothing like celebrating America's birthday with a good pie in the Key West.
