The grocery delivery service has grown their business to now be available in 14 states and Washington D.C. from almost 100 different retailers. Instacart partners with different retailers who participate in their alcohol delivery, such as Kroger, Publix, Albertsons, alongside wine and liquor stores such as BevMo!, Binny's Beverage Depot, and Total Wine & More.
Instacart alcohol delivery is now available to 40 million homes in the U.S. Instacart now offers alcohol delivery to households in Florida. Anyone can visit Instacart's website, sign up for an account, and get alcohol delivered straight to their door, from vendors such as ABC Fine Wine & Spirits and Total Wine & More. Customers can order wine, beer, and hard liquor.
Even though Instacart was founded in 2012, they only started their alcohol delivery service a year ago, competing with Postmates who introduced alcohol delivery in 2017. There are other delivery services that are strictly alcohol like Drizly, Minibar, and Saucey.
Instacart's Chief Business Officer, Nilam Ganenthiran, stated that adding alcohol delivery service was important for the company. According to Ganenthiran, the grocery delivery service wanted to add alcohol delivery because many people add a bottle of wine to their regular grocery list.

By working with retailers, Instacart can now offer their customers more choice and can be customers' only choice for grocery and alcohol delivery. Even in the face of competition, Instacart has prevailed. After Amazon bought Whole Foods in 2017, Instacart wasn't hit as hard as some suspected. Because of its retail partner growth over the past year, Instacart has become a great option to its customers.
Instacart now serves more than 80 percent of U.S. households and has reached its stated goal for the end of 2018. At the end of 2017, Instacart was available to 70 percent of U.S. households. It has 300 retail partners and delivers from 20,000 different grocery stores across 5,500 cities in North America.
